A brief review of Auto Zürich

Today, Auto Zürich is a meeting place for over 60,000 visitors and offers a portfolio of brands for new cars alone. The basis for this is an extensive network of manufacturers, importers and their sales partners. Above all, it is the result of the tireless efforts since its founding in 1987 to offer exhibitors the most efficient and effective sales platform possible year after year.

From today's perspective, it is hard to believe that the first Auto Zurich in 1987 took place in one of the old halls of the Zurich Exhibition Centre (today this location is frequented by visitors who stay in the Holiday Inn that was built there in the meantime). At that time, no fewer than seven brands with a total of 60 vehicles were represented. With 27,000 visitors, this first edition was already a complete success.

The driving force throughout all these years was and is the current owner and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Karl Bieri, who, with the support of his wife Doris and since 2022 together with the current Managing Director Ines Nägeli, has made Auto Zürich one of the most successful automobile shows in Europe. And this in an increasingly volatile environment. Entrepreneurial courage and foresight coupled with the highest level of efficiency and customer orientation form the foundation. The latter stands for the consistency in action with which it has been possible to minimize the organizational effort for the exhibitors and to keep the base prices per square meter almost constant since Auto Zürich was founded.

Today, in addition to the new car section, Auto Zürich includes numerous other modules that serve as a thematic home for vintage cars, motorcycles, tuning, accessories and motorsport, but also for the increasingly popular topic of e-mobility. Despite this successful growth, Auto Zürich will remain true to its origins and be an accessible and affordable platform for exhibitors and visitors on everything to do with automobiles.
