Concept Cars

We all love them, both for what they offer and what they promise. From bold and beautiful to cheeky and downright crazy, concept cars are designed to turn heads and are, in most cases, daring, futuristic and aesthetically pleasing. But concept cars are more than just a spectacle for entertainment. Even though they are unlikely to ever make it into series production or a showroom, they show us what is possible and give us a glimpse of what the future might hold. They can help with design development or bring a technological breakthrough.

Of course, the odd wing mirror or door handle shown here ends up in a production model, but rarely does an entire concept car roll off the production line as a production vehicle. Rather, these concepts allow automakers to push the boundaries, perhaps beyond what is practically or financially feasible. They are a test bed for engineers and designers to develop ideas by "thinking outside the box" - or in the case of automotive design, thinking outside the three boxes that make up most cars: hood, body and trunk.

In the past, there were mostly presentations that took place every year from Detroit to Geneva to Frankfurt. Now the dazzling one-off pieces are also finding their way to the Auto Zurich. In 2023, these were the Citroën oli [all-ë] (see picture), the Hyundai N Vision 74 and the PEUGEOT Inception Concept. You can also look forward to more four-wheeled visions at the Auto Zurich in 2024. We will reveal specific details here shortly.
